Devin The biggest problem, as i play through the ending exposition Is that the idea of an infinite number of worlds that very from indistinct to alien based on constant divergence is sound and makes sense But within context of the story, somehow mainly just comstocks world and bookers are causationally dependent Which is odd because all the same, they end up IN the same timeline somehow at the start of the story Did the entrance to columbia involve going through a tear (that i guess i may of missed?) Furthermore, if liz had to learn of her powers, destroy the siphon And take booker on this tour Sure it saves the day because she eliminates booker and comstock in all timelines BUUUUUT That creates an assfuck of paradoxes that are only resolved if her power makes her immune from being blooped out of existence as such Furthermore, dewitt had to be world hopping to get there and try to stop comstock This the losing the finger and the origin of the power Which creates a chicken-egg time loop that hardly works in this version of physics and if he was already world hopping in ever set of dual-universes this story is unfolding in (otherwise the story wouldnt happen to begin with) that means in every timeline, present-day post-siphon destruction liz would have known how to resolve things Or else her powers and all this didnt happen to begin with And the evil heel face turn liz from the future couldn't have existed in any timeline similar enough to work by these rules Which hers evidently did or why bother reaching out to player-booker? Hell, even old liz had to break the siphon in her moment of final despair as far as i could tell from her audiologs Fucking paradox city all in all But whatever Its a videogame, not a serious dissection of actual quantum mechanics or time trivel/divergent universe Devin And i guess the best explanation is "liz's powers are unexplainable and perhaps ONLY a few of the timelines give liz reality breaking powers to the point of being able to stop things instead of perpetuating them, and in these few timelines she's not just a powerful dimension hopper but for some arbitrary reason even steonger: immune to causation, logic, and essentially an eldritch horror" Devin Thats my theory now. To explain all these inconsistencies Tl;dr the instance of liz that booker accompanies in the game must be set apart from at least 99% of other liz's, sparse enough that these godlike instances are incredibly rare amongt all timelines compared to a more limited version. Ugh god "things get set in motion, we cant just stop him" fucking leituce No more so than deleting all instances in all divergent universes in the current moment And considering things like comstock's aging discrepancy an shit There's even more potential variables But w/e This is a character drama with a background of essentially mysticism Booker's tale Not hard science I should stop sperging Also not sure how bringing present day booker in prime timeline to a place in his past for a fatal do-over Is the same causationally as preventing every instance if past, ignorant booker to walk away from baptism But fuck it whatever Still a good game lol but god, its like sperging about lost all over again except lost was plausibly explainable without ridiculous handwaving (though it still had holes)
Devin I guess the lutece "twins" illustrate another consistency Inconsistency In bookers death scene, its implied his choice then somehow overwrites the originals in every timeline So feasibly maybe liz can collapse all timelines on a single moment if it's applicable To them And make a present body causationally inhabit the originals positions somehow But at the same time Liz can have multiple copies of herself in one world (though it could just be her bullshit handwaving again" ) But the letece's are causationally the same person, just the difference between xy and xx fertilization no more different than any other similar worlds slight differences And yet they can inhabit the same world at once without overwriting each other And yet, in the graveyard its heavily implied by the lack of their bodies in their graves That them both being there erased their dead selves Fuck, how did they both even die in the prime timeline in the same world? It would fuck up robert's world if he died with rosalind in hers Case in point The two and their bodies wouldnt be two pairs But rather Four of the same causational entity So uhh Do being divergent of the same quantum superposition overwrite each other or not in the fucking rules of that multiverse? Real talk: they dont expect most fans to ever ask anything like that, fuck it yo Im gonna go smoke a bowl or do some nuggs shit and focus on the fun stuff Like how the songbird was basically a more tragic big daddy The story didnt fixate much on the body horror and absolute clavo shit inherent to some of the enemies But i liked the implications Oh ok it does help the luteces in that apparent the machines destruction gave then basically causational immunity similar to liz but more passive and less powerful And there may have never been bodies to begin with Them* Still a handwave but it answers a bit about them Still, the crux of all the issues was the endgame with booker, which explains why the story needed to play out even though they themselves are near omnipotent: it would just be inplausible, even with unlimited time, to time travel AND dimension hop from universe to universe Stopping the destruction of new york in each It'd just never end if there was infinite universes, no matter the bullshit they can pull It'd just be a constant effort for them, though appearing instantaneous through a third party So the booker ploy is a better way of settling their dilemma everywhere forever but the crux if it all is the paradox i spoke about implied by he and liz even getting that far And the manner in which somehow drowning him happened to fix every single universe somehow OH WELL Also so theres at least comstock in roberts timeline And theres comstock AND booker in rosalinds for sure And its implied via the baptism thing that booker is also in roberts world to give up the baby to him or some shit Independent of him traveling back there with liz But even if not Still, how the dick does both the comstock you kill and the booker you play as Exist in rosalind's universe Oh ok so roberts timeline IS bookers original And theres a world hop for booker before you get to columbia That makes more sense but still doesn't resolve the several other errors Devin http://neilfarnum.hubpages.com/hub/The-5-Biggest-Plot-Holes-in-BioShock-Infinite ooh this guy asks a few of the things I asked and a couple different things he didnt cover the bullshit that was the ending itself in terms of how it does anything to resolve shit in a causationally sound way accross all universes which does seem like the most important of all but w/e Devin http://www.forbes.com/sites/insertc...ck-infinite-you-might-have-missed-completely/ I mean, I acknowledged that rapture was just the parallel columbia in a much more divergent universe Devin one where the analogue story occurs a bit later in time because of whatever variables and all that but this guy makes a good point: rapture had a genetic lock on it's bathyspheres if this rapture works the same as the first game's that means not only are booker/comstock/ryan/jack all analogues to each other but genetically, despite all the other apparent massive divergences (including existing like 40 years apart in their respective timelines) booker has the same exact DNA as ryan or his ("son" but more likely clone) jack kind of funny that it would be so, instead of just being loose causational analogues, considering how very different those two universes are Chris Man That's so much reading I'll read it when I wake up because I'm fading dast
